Sri Lanka formerly known as Ceylon and officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia. It lies in the Indian Ocean, southwest of the Bay of Bengal, separated from the Indian peninsula by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait. Sri Lanka shares a maritime border with the Maldives in the south-west and India in the north-west.

Itinerary

Day 01 (Pinnawala/Sigiriya)

Approximately: 3 ½ hours / 150Km

Meet your guide upon arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, and you will be headed to Sigiriya via Pinnawala.

Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, an orphanage, nursery, and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located in Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.
Then visit the Sigiriya rock fortress, one of Sri Lanka's most fascinating UNESCO World Heritage sites. This 650-foot high rock fortress in the sky is a masterpiece of construction, artistry, and irrigation. The world-famous fresco paintings of heavenly maidens are housed in a cave.
After that, visit the gem museum, enjoy an elephant ride, and go on a bullock cart ride to the countryside. Savor delicious rural foods among other activities.
In the latter half of the day, a spa herbal treatment will be available for you to relax.

Day 02 (Dambulla Cave Temple/Spice Garden/Kandy)

Approximately: 2 hours / 90Km

Early morning, drive to Minneriya National Park, known for its incredible elephant migration, one of Asia’s finest wildlife experiences.
After checking out from the hotel, leave for Kandy, en route visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple (Golden Rock Temple), a cave temple dating back to the 1st Century BC with a rock ceiling of colorful frescoes depicting Buddhist mythology.
Afterwards, travel to Kandy, another fascinating city of Sri Lanka. En route, visit a spice garden in Matale.

Day 03 (Kandy)

After breakfast, visit the Temple of the Tooth and the museum.

After checking out from the hotel, travel deeper into the tea-growing hills. En route to Nuwara Eliya, visit the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple on the hills of Ramboda.
Visit tea plantations, waterfalls, & tea factories.
Visit Lake Gregory, a reservoir in the heart of Nuwara Eliya.

Day 05 (Horton Plains)

Approximately: 1 hour / 28Km

Early morning, leave for Horton Plains National Park, a national park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, rich in biodiversity with many endemic species.

Day 06 (Bentota)

Approximately: 5 ½ hours / 208 Km

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and drive to Bentota.
