Bentota, located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, is a popular resort town famed for its extensive Bentota Beach, which extends northward, transforming into the sandy expanse known as Paradise Island, adjacent to Bentota Lagoon. The area is renowned for its diving spots enriched with coral, including the well-known Canoe Rock. Historical significance is anchored by the ancient Galapota Temple along the Bentota River, home to a grand Buddha statue. Further southeast lies Lunuganga, the renowned estate and gardens designed by architect Geoffrey Bawa. Close by, the Brief Garden by his brother Bevis, offers a glimpse into the artistic legacy of the Bawa family.
Itinerary
Day 1:
Upon your arrival at Colombo International Airport, a driver will greet you and escort you to the Taj Bentota Beach Resort. The journey to the resort will approximately take 1 hour and 20 minutes. After checking in, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy your first breakfast at the hotel. The rest of your day will be at your leisure, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2:
Start your day with breakfast before heading out on a city tour of Bentota. The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off, transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle, the services of an English-speaking chauffeur guide, a boat safari on the Madu River, a 1-liter water bottle per person, and entry to the Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area. Once the tour concludes, you'll be taken back to your hotel for dinner and another overnight stay.
Day 3:
After breakfast, the day's adventure involves a trip to Kandy City from Bentota. This tour also provides hotel pickup and drop-off, transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle, the services of an English-speaking chauffeur guide, and two 500 ml water bottles per person. Following the tour, you will return to your hotel in Bentota.
Day 4:
Following breakfast, you have a free day to spend as you please, with an overnight stay in Bentota.
Day 5:
After breakfast, you will have some free time for last-minute shopping or relaxation at the hotel before being transferred to the airport for your flight back to Dubai.
